The difference that matters
No — and the difference is where most rug damage starts.
Wall-to-wall carpet is synthetic, glued down, and forgiving. A hand-knotted Oriental rug is wool or silk on a cotton foundation, colored with dyes that can run, holding years of fine grit deep in its base.
Run a hot-water carpet machine over that and you clean the surface while the foundation keeps its dirt — and sometimes gains a water stain or a bled dye it never had before.
A rug has to leave the house to be washed properly.
At our Miami Beach shop, every rug is inspected, dusted until the grit stops falling, washed for its specific fiber and dye, spot-treated, and dried completely before it comes home. That last part matters more here than almost anywhere: Miami humidity punishes a rug that goes back on the floor damp.
Not every rug needs all of that — some synthetics are fine with simpler on-site cleaning. When that's true, we tell you, and you spend less.
Rugs we clean
Every kind Miami's floors can hold. Each one gets the same order of operations — inspect, dye-test, dust, wash, dry — adjusted to its fiber and construction.
Hand-knotted city and village rugs are dusted until the foundation stops shedding grit, then washed to match their dyes and fibers.
Dye-tested before any water touches the pile — reds and blues especially — because a rug that bleeds in the wash should never reach the wash.
Washed with wool-safe, lanolin-replenishing shampoo so the fiber comes back soft and naturally stain-resistant instead of stripped.
Hand washing, then flat or hung drying — whichever the construction calls for. The delicate pieces are the reason this shop exists.
Fragile pieces get an honest evaluation first. If a rug is too weak to wash safely, we tell you that instead of risking it.
No pile to hide in, so soil sits in the weave itself. Flatweaves and dhurries are washed gently and dried so they keep their shape.
Deep-pile rugs hold on to everything. They need thorough dusting, patient drying, and grooming so the pile comes back full, not matted.
Some synthetics do fine with simpler cleaning — when that's true, we say so and you spend less. If it isn't worth cleaning, we say that too.
Inside the shop
Fiber, knots, dyes, existing damage. We test for color bleeding and photograph problem areas before anything gets wet.
Our rug duster vibrates the dry soil out of the foundation — the abrasive sand a vacuum can never reach.
A wash matched to the rug: hand work for silk and antiques, gentle rotary shampoo for sturdy wool, lanolin-safe products throughout.
Stubborn stains get individual treatment, and fringes are cleaned separately so they come back bright, not gray.
Centrifuge, hanging racks, and moving air until the rug is dry through the foundation. Then a final vacuum, grooming, and wrapping for delivery.
Straight pricing
Because no two rugs are the same job. A machine-made synthetic from a department store and a hand-knotted Isfahan can be the exact same size and need completely different work — different products, different handling, different hours.
What moves the number: size, fiber, how the rug was made, how dirty the foundation is, pet contamination, fringe condition, dye stability, and whether anything needs repair.
A price quoted before we've seen any of that is a guess — and guesses have a way of growing once the rug is on the truck.
So we look first, then quote, then start.
At pickup we inspect the rug with you, explain exactly what it needs, and give you the full price before it leaves your home. And if a rug honestly isn't worth the cost of cleaning — it happens, usually with inexpensive synthetics — we'll tell you to keep your money.

Yes. Pickup and delivery are free everywhere in Miami-Dade — Coral Gables, Coconut Grove, Brickell, Key Biscayne, Pinecrest, Miami Beach, and the neighborhoods in between. We schedule by appointment, roll the rug ourselves, and bring it back finished.
Trapped moisture is the quiet enemy here. A damp wool foundation can develop mildew, dry rot, or dye migration faster in our climate than almost anywhere. That's why our drying room uses hanging racks, air movers, and a centrifuge — rugs leave fully dry, not almost dry.
Carpet machines push hot water and detergent into the pile and pull some of it back. On a hand-knotted rug, whatever stays behind stays in the foundation — along with the grit a surface cleaning never touches. Fine rugs need dusting, a wash matched to their dyes, and real drying. That happens at a shop, not in a living room.
We price after we see the rug. Size, fiber, construction, dye stability, soiling, and repairs all change the work involved, so a phone quote would be a guess. We inspect first, then give you the exact figure before we start. If cleaning isn't worth it, we say so.
Most washes run about a week from pickup to delivery — proper dusting, washing, and full drying can't be rushed in this humidity. Rugs that also need repairs take longer, and you get that timeline at the inspection.
